I am still getting my feet under me when it comes to writing TV show reviews. It is certainly an art. However, it is a lot of fun. I am a big fan of The Orville, but as a reviewer, it is my job to criticize. When it came to this episode of The Orville, I found some stuff to call out, and not all of the commenters agreed.
The gist of my argument was that much of the structure of the story was spaceship sci-fi we have seen before. My subtitle for the review is: “The Orville Season 2 Episode 8 suggests that sentient robots on the loose is likely not going to play out well for humanity.” This is a topic that has been tackled over and over again. It is one worth looking at because of the increasing focus on artificial intelligence. What I was to see what something new and different.
When it comes to The Orville, the humor is something new and different. Practically anything they do is enhanced by it. This makes every episode entertaining regardless if it isn’t profound.
I hope you take a look at my review you can find it on Den of Geek, here: The Orville Season 2 Episode 8 Review: Identity Part I
